You might wonder why such an establishment can be found in the Breckenridge ski town.  Well, you need to take a look at the history of Breckenridge Colorado.  Let’s look back at how Breckenridge Colorado became what it is today.  Before white settlers came to Breckenridge, this town was already the hunting grounds of the Native Americans.  But Breckenridge Colorado was only formally developed during the gold rush in the 19th century.  Breckenridge was founded by General George Spencer who proved to be shrewd in this regard because he named the town “Breckinridge” after Vice-President John Campbell Breckinridge.  However, General Spencer soon regretted his decision with the outbreak of the Civil War. The vice-president was expelled for treason and the town of “Breckinridge” became Breckenridge Colorado.

By 1861, Breckenridge Colorado was already enjoying booming business activities with hotels, posts office, restaurants, and many stores in the locality.  And the miners living in Breckenridge had many diversions to choose from to make their stay interesting.  During this time, Breckenridge Colorado was already Summit County’s permanent county seat.  But because of the Civil War, Breckenridge experienced a severe drop in population because of the restricted access to free gold.  Of course, Breckenridge real estate property also experienced a drop in value at this point in time.

Throughout Breckenridge’s history after this period, you will notice that there is a trend of boom and bust in this town. For example, in 1860, Breckenridge was once again alive with another mining phase because of hydraulic mining.  Then during World War II, its population continuously dropped and a lot of buildings were abandoned.  During the post-war period, a lot of buildings were lost for many reasons.  Some building owners purposely destroyed their buildings to minimize their tax burden.  There were also many buildings that were lost because of fire.  Some of Breckenridge’s buildings were even torn apart to be used as firewood.  But even while the population dwindled significantly, Breckenridge never became a ghost town; rather, it remained as a small and intimate town until its popularity as a ski resort emerged.

It was during the 1960’s that Breckenridge Colorado developed into the premier Rocky Mountain ski destination.  Various improvements on Breckenridge’s infrastructure made it accessible for a lot of tourists.  The beauty of the Breckenridge area itself was combined with many recreational activities that anyone can enjoy.  This made Breckenridge the must-see destination during that time.  And even today, Breckenridge still maintains this status and is described as a high-end destination.

In 1983 and onwards, the town officials designed Breckenridge Colorado to maintain its distinct historic character while making it a modern ski town that can cater to the needs of even the most discriminating customer.  In addition, Breckenridge also has a system that protects the back country so that its habitat and mountain vistas will be preserved.  All these efforts made Breckenridge Colorado what it is today.  It serves at the center of recreational and commercial activity in Summit County.  Breckenridge Colorado provides historical heritage, stunning views, fresh country air, recreational activities and genuine mining history for interested travelers.  During Breckenridge’s peak seasons in both the summer and winter, you can expect visitors all over America and even all over the world to be in Breckenridge to bask at the different amenities it has to offer.

All year, guests can experience many activities in Breckenridge Colorado during their stay. These activities include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, shopping, dining, hiking, kayaking and biking in this incredible alpine destination.  Planning a vacation in Breckenridge Colorado with your family would surely be worth it because at the end of the day, it all comes down to having a great time and building memories with your loved ones.
